Harlingen man charged with four counts of making a false report to a police officer

Harlingen police arrested a man after receiving a tip from his insurance company regarding several alleged theft claims being filed.

On Tuesday, January 28th a detective from the Harlingen Police Department received  a call from an insurance company in reference to several claims being filed by Anin Michael Keith, 34, over the past year of 2013.

On four different dates, January 7th, March 27th, June 12th and October 23rd Keith had filed reports of stolen items taken from his vehicle.

The stolen items consisted of a laptop, an iPad belonging to the Santa Maria ISD and in the other two other incidents several items being taken.

The detective verified that several of the stolen items had been pawned by Keith and that the criminal reports filed by Keith were false.

An arrest warrant was issued for Keith who was arrested on February 5th and charged with four counts of making a false report to a police officer and handed a bond of $3,000 dollars.
