Harlingen police arrested a man for firing his weapon after he called 911 reporting that several people were attempting to steal his boat.

On Friday, June 13th at around 1:30 p.m. police were called to 100 block of Orange Grove Drive in reference to a theft in progress.

The caller, Oscar Eliso Tamez, 45, reported that three individuals were attempting to steal his boat and he had fired a gun multiple times at the suspects.

The officers investigation determined that Tamez was under the influence of narcotics and hallucinating the incident.

Tamez was arrested and charged with discharging a firearm, 9mm Hi-Point, and fined $339.
