The H1N1 virus or Swine flu strikes again claiming the lives of two Rio Grande Valley residents.

Health officials say a teenage boy and a woman in her 30's from Hidalgo county died from the virus about ten days ago. Regional Director of the Texas Department of Health, Dr. Brian Smith, says the hype about that particular virus has diminished but in no way does that mean the virus is gone.

Dr. Smith recommends everyone remain on high alert by taking all preventative measures such as washing your hands regularly. If you're having flu like symptoms visit your physician immediately and avoid physical contact. So far in the Rio Grande Valley, three people have died from the H1N1 flu virus bringing the total to six deaths in the state of Texas.
