Grief Counselors Assigned at Sam Houston Elementary

Two children attending Sam Houston Elementary School in Harlingen, 4 year-old Jonathan Cortez and 9 year-old Jasmine Cantu remain in critical condition in San Antonio after being involved in a car rollover.

The accident happened on the southbound lanes of Interstate 37, near Pleasanton, on Friday evening and also killing four family members. The family was heading to San Antonio from the Valley when the vehicle blew a tire and caused the driver to lose control and the vehicle flipping several times and ejecting some of the passengers.

Sam Houston elementary and  Coakley Middle school have assigned grief counselors on stand-by for any students who are having a difficult time grieving the loss of their classmate. Among the victims killed in the accident were 21 year-old Aaron Cruz, 13 year-old Anieca Salazar, 28 year-old Annette Ramirez and 4 year-old Jonathan Cortez.
