Grenades Found on South Padre Island

Several different agencies were called out to South Padre Island after 2 grenades were found 3 1/2 miles north of beach access 6.

The Cameron County Sheriff's Department Swat Team, Cameron County Constables...and Brownsville PD Bomb Squad just a few law enforcement agencies called this RV around noon Tuesday. A note was left on the RV saying ex navy seals lived there and it was booby trapped. The Brownsville bomb squad was brought it to retrieve the grenades.

"They had to robot located one on the door they detonated it and appeared to be a dud."

The sheriff says that the second grenade was found inside the RV. This time the robot was unable to retrieve the grenade, so a bomb expert went into to get it. This one also turned out the be a dud. The sheriff says the owner of says he loaned the RV to two people.

"He claims he loaned that particular RV to two navy seals so far we didn't find anybody so they are going to go back and try to get more information, there will probably be some criminal charges filed after we talk to him and see what really took place and why."
