A 1,000 acre grass fire was finally put out after firefighters battled the flames for six hours.

It was located in the northern part of Hidalgo county on FM 1017 and Puerto Rico road and the fire started when a Magic Valley electric truck caught on fire as workers were working on a electrical pole. Residents of the area say the fire department responded to the call within minutes and were able to save a barn and a home from being burned.
The Linn-San Manuel Fire Department received help from more than fifteen fire departments located around the area.
