Gang recruitment, it happens probably  everyday, and what may be most scary, is these recruiters are targeting kids. The Brownsville Police Department, along with the Brownsville I.S.D., are on a mission to deter these potential recruits from traveling down the wrong path.

The grant of $250,000 dollars was awarded to the two agencies by the Governors Office to clean up the streets of gang and drug activity. Police working overtime, through the grant, will target high traffic neighborhoods where the illegal activity is taking place and in the process they say making a large number of arrests will happen.

Locking up bad guys isn't where the job stops, if there are kids in the home, authorities will identify which appropriate agency may be needed to help ensure the children don't follow the same path mom, dad or big brother have traveled. Police say being proactive instead of reactive, to the gang situation is their goal.
