Granny Shoots 12 Year Old
Chicago woman wounds boy throwing bricks at her home.
An elderly Chicago woman took matters into her own hands Tuesday evening when neighborhood children began throwing bricks at her home.
A 12-year-old boy who neighbors describe as a "little monster" is recovering after she shot him in the arm.
The woman, believed to be in her late 60s or early 70s, fired the shot.
She remained in police custody Tuesday night, but police said she may not be charged because she may have fired shots in self-defense.
She told police the injured boy and others had thrown bricks at her house, with at least one breaking a window.
She chased the boys and fired shots after the children would not put the bricks down, a police source said.
Neighbors said the boy is a known troublemaker and the head of a small neighborhood gang.
"This little boy started a fire in her grill, burned out her garbage can...he was a little terror," said neighbor Hilda Brunt. "This has been going on for weeks."
At least one of the boys is telling a different story.
"One minute I'm playing basketball with my friend, the next minute I see him with a bloody arm," said 15-year-old Jordan Heard.
