Governor Rick Perry has signed into law a bill that would allow technical colleges to partner up with junior colleges to administer high school drop out programs.

is intended to strengthen legislation passed during the 2011 legislative session which replicated an existing and successful dropout recovery program from the Pharr-San Juan Alamo Independent School District, and opened the program to all public junior colleges and school districts statewide.

The bill now allows a public technical institute may receive a certain amount from a partnering junior college for courses the technical school offers to students enrolled in dropout prevention program.
