Going Ape For Baby Gorilla

Cincinnati Zoo employees don furry disguises during interaction with abandoned baby gorilla.

Getting the Cincinnati Zoo's latest baby used to its new home will turn out to be a group effort.

Over the next several months, the zoo will use human surrogates to mimic gorilla behavior with the ultimate goal of getting the 4-week-old gorilla baby in the hands of a gorilla surrogate.

The baby was rejected by her mother at a Texas zoo.

The surrogates will wear gorilla coats and dark clothing, while trying to emulate gorillas as best as they can.

"Any sound we can make, place we can put the baby. The way we carry the baby. The way we talk to the baby. Things that baby touches," Primate Team Leader Ron Evans said.
