BROWNSVILLE, TX (NEWS CENTER 23) — About 50 pediatric patients had the chance to take advantage of free dental service at Tara Rios dentist office. The Brownsville dentist gave back as part of the national event, "Give a Kid a Smile".

"We targeted children that had no insurance, no Medicaid," said, Dr. Tara Rios, DDS.

While this event not only screens and cleans, it also educated the kiddos and their parents on proper care to maintain their pearly whites so they won't have to be back for a major dental procedure later.

"It's not just the government’s job, we as providers have obligations and so it's a public private partnership of taking care of our children," said Dr. Rios.

The “Give a Kids a Smile” event happens once a year.
