Inaugural celebrations are already underway in Washington.

All this weekend Washington is hosting some of the hottest parties in the nation, the many inaugural balls.

The parties are no small feat, adding millions of dollars to the D.C. economy and luring a crowd of people dressed to impress.

Party planners say the star studded dance featuring the president and First Lady will draw about 40,000 people to the Washington Convention Center.

The two officials balls are just the beginning of the glitz and glamour.

93 inaugural events taking place over five days.

Four years ago official inaugural spending topped $53 million.

This year a slowly recovering economy doesn't seem to have organizers or partygoers holding back.

At Hu's Wear the average shopper is spending close to $1,000 on the latest fashions.

"This year, they were really looking for pops of color - cobalt blue has been really popular for us," says owner Marlene Hu Aldaba.

The newly opened Georgetown Drybar hair salon had to expand its hours just to accommodate all the requests for an appointment.

"Part of the excitement is just getting beautiful for women," says manager Danielle Jackson.

The parties started Thursday and wrap up late Monday night.

Ticket prices can range from $50 dollars to several hundred.

Many benefit charities, and the tickets still available are going quickly.
