EDINBURG - Two Tri-City gang members are now facing murder charges after a deadly weekend shooting.

Esteban Albiter and Juan Jesus Briones are charged with first degree murder after they admitted to shooting and killing 34 year-old Erasmo Morales. A sheriff's report states that Morales' father had confronted the pair earlier in the day for drag racing in the neighborhood. The suspects then followed Morales father back to his residence and that's when Erasmo came by and defended his dad and was shot in the chest. Both suspects are confirmed members of the Tri-City Bombers gang and while this is not considered a gang related incident, Hidalgo Sheriff Trevino wants to remind people about the dangers of gang members. "It does give us credibility to what we have been saying all along, the Tri-City Bombers are a very dangerous gang, their members are very dangerous as individuals."

The sheriff's department is still looking for a third suspect in this case and this is the 15th murder that the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department has handled this year.
