SAN JUAN, Police have arrested two men accused of trying to steal a car from a woman. According to police they are Chicano gang members. Michael Villarreal, 19 and Fernando Rosales, 29, are accused of attempting to car jack the woman's car off Ridge and Nebraska St. Monday night. Police said the duo flagged the woman down at that intersection and then one of them tried to open the car door.

"(She) got frightened so she took off at a high rate of speed lucky no one was injured we do have these two subjects in custody,” said Sergeant Rudy Luna of San Juan Police.

The duo was talking to media prior to the arraignment Tuesday afternoon and told News Center 23 that they were involved in a fight at a bbq and was injured from that fight. They went on to say they were part of another gang than what police identified them.

"So I went to look for her dog and when I went, some guys jumped me and my neighbors came out and helped me and so that's why we're here,” said Rosales. According to police, that story does not hold truth.
“He has injuries as far as like road rash,” said Luna. “Road rash is going to occur if you’re dragged on the road on the street, cement or anything like that. The injury that he has is road rash."

Police also recommends you to be aware of your surroundings especially when you’re driving at night to prevent this type of incidents happening to you. Police said they have four other people in custody and are trying to link them to the crime that happened.

Villarreal and Rosales are criminal intent robbery and both face a $250,000.
