Game Face, Family Spends Time Together On The Court
PALMVIEW - Sports teams are normally put together based on skill, but one team is connected by more than that, every member on the court and bench is a part of the same family. It's a team make-up not often seen, but the De La Garza family knows it's special.
"I think so, people ask, who are you, and we say we are a family. And they see us playing together, and we aren't the best players, but we enjoy playing it," said Jaime De La Garza, Father.
For many of them, volleyball isn't their first sport, but it's become the sport they all prefer to now play.
"We have been playing for probably around 15 years," said Juan Arevalo, Son In Law.
Two generations play on the court, while the upcoming generation watch a the sideline yearning for their opportunity to play too.
"I have a six year old that is already going to play in our league here at the Palmview boys and girls club. I have a three year old that is already bumping and of course I have a one year old that is already coming," said Arevalo.
The sport is becoming a common denominator in their family.
"We feel that the unity, it brings us together even though there may be disagreements," said Arevalo.
