CAMERON COUNTY - The future of Cameron County's District Attorney Armando Villalobos could be decided by the privacy of an e-mail.

The e-mail, sent on November 23rd, contained an invitation from D.A. Armando Villalobos at attend a campaign kick-off for his run for Congress. The even was dated for December 8th and under Texas law an announcement made before December 2nd would require Villalobos to step down from his post. County Judge Carlos Cascos says the resignation will ultimately be decided by whether the e-mail was a private or public announcement. "It either is or it isn't. If it is an announcement under the parameters that the statue says then it is an automatic resignation and the commissioners court will need to find a replacement until the election, but I just want to make sure that whatever decision the court makes is the right decision and we will take it from there."
