Funeral for WWII veteran beaten to death by teens
Spokane, WA — Friends, family and even complete strangers gathered in Washington State to pay tribute to a World War II veteran beaten to death last week.
Delbert Belton was laid to rest Thursday in North Spokane. Belton was wounded in combat in the Battle of Okinawa and survived until age 88.
Last week police say two teens beat him to death in an apparent robbery in a North Spokane parking lot
Belton's love ones say they were anticipating a lot of support at the service, but say they were truly in awe by the turn out.
Ty Bennett, Victim's Nephew, "It was overwhelming, I just can't believe it. It's breathtaking and leaves me speechless the turn out and just how many people just care in the community."
Both teens suspected in the attack will be tried as adults and face murder charges.
