Former McAllen Mayor Arrested

Police say they busted the former McAllen mayor driving while intoxicated. Leo Montalvo was arrested for DWI.

Police say that 65 year-old former mayor Leo Montalvo was driving on the 800 block of South Ware in McAllen. Police say that his vehicle got in an accident with another car. Police pulled over Montalvo and began questioning him asking if he had been drinking.

During the questioning Montalvo said to the officer "Do you know who I am? I need you to call the chief of police right now."

He went on to add.

"Please let me go"

Police say that Montalvo was slurring his words and was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Police say the children in the other car that was hit were fine and mother sustained only an injury to her thumb.

Once again while the officer was talking to Montalvo he stated.

"Please sir, please sir, don't ruin my several years of public service I beg of you."

Montalvo was booked at the McAllen police station for driving while intoxicated. He posted posted bond and was released.
