An illegal immigrant stopped in South Texas, has headed home to Ireland after years in a crime spree in the United States.

Pol Brennan was on his way to Ireland on Friday morning after years on the run from Ireland law enforcement officials. Brennan is a former Irish Republican Army militant who escaped prison in Ireland and came to the U.S. where officials say he used a dead infant's identity to try and hide out.

After a handful of convictions across the U.S., Customs and Border Protection agents stopped him in South Texas for having an invalid immigration documents in 2008. He's been kept at the Port Isabel Detention Center sine then and Brennan will end his trip in Ireland where he is wanted for escaping prison.
