MCALLEN, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — District attorney Rene Guerra says Vela, who worked in the hot checks department, was fired for refusing to testify in the criminal trial against Jorge Garza yesterday.
He was subpoenaed by defense.
Garza, a former Hidalgo county sheriffs deputy, and others are accused of using their official position to stop drug traffickers and then take their load, only to resell it to others.
