Former Funeral Director Charged with Theft

A former funeral director was charged with theft after Edcouch police say he stole money from elderly customers, Joangel Concepcion has more.
After months of investigating, Edcouch police arrested a man they say embezzled money from elderly customers at the Zavala Family Funeral Home. Former funeral director Marco Zavala was charged with theft on Tuesday morning and is accused of stealing money from many clients. Police say several victims have come forward since the investigation started a few months ago and the majority of his victims were elderly customers.
Esbaldo Cardoza, who is the owner of the funeral home, contacted police after noticing several indescrepencies. Since the incident, Cardoza has hired a new funeral director and plans to change the name of the business. Cardoza stated that he is deeply saddened by the crime, but happy his customers are now in good hands.
The Zavala Funeral Home wants to make sure they honor anyone that was affected by the crime and they urge any customers, who have purchased funeral arraignments, to come by and review their contract.
