Former fugitive sentenced to prison for cocaine distribution
BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — A former fugitive, wanted on trafficking charges, is sentenced to federal prison for over 17 years.
Juan Becerra Vallego, 55, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Hilda Tagle after he pled guilty to possessing with intent to distribute cocaine.
Vallego was indicted back in 2009 and an warrant was issued for his arrest with his apprehension coming in October of 2011.
The investigation uncovered that Vallego managed all activities of a criminal organization in transporting large loads of marijuana and cocaine.
