A Brownsville teacher has been removed from the classroom after reports surfaced that he allegedly had a sexual relationship with a student, Na'Tassia Finley has more on the teacher's arrest.

Isai Espinoza, 29, is no longer employed with IDEA Frontier Academy in Brownsville after being arrested and charged with having sexual relations with a student under 16 years of age.

Police issued the warrant for Espinoza after a complaint was filed by a family member of the victim at the start of the month. Espinoza was picked up by the fugitive task force on Monday in Los Fresnos.

J.J. Trevino, Brownsville PD, "This case is still active and he might be facing further charges, further indictments."

At this time police say the arrest of Espinoza is only tied to one student, they say the two counts of indecency with a child stem from two separate sexual encounters with that one student, but they add that while they are not saying there are more students who could have been victimized they are not yet ruling it out either, given that teachers, like Espinoza,  have access to so many students.

Be it with a teacher or any adult, Trevino says reporting abuse suspicions is a must, "If you know something that is going on or if you feel something is going on, the best thing you can do is to just report it. Now, if it gets investigated and nothing comes of it, then no harm, no foul, but if something did come out of it, then you did your duty."
