Former District Judge Abel Limas sentenced to 6 years in prison
BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Former 404th District Court Judge Abel Limas faced a federal judge on Wednesday to be sentenced on bribery charges.
U.S. District Court Judge Andrew Hanen sentenced Lima to six years in federal prison.
Limas did testify against others involved the scandal with most recently in the trial of former State Rep. Jim Solis.
He was indicted back in April of 2011 on charges of soliciting and accepting bribes along with extortion.
Prosecutors say Lima's received more than $200,000 dollars to give favorable outcomes for certain cases and other matters.
Limas has already pleaded guilty to one count of racketeering and faced a maximum of 20 years in prison.
