Landlord tells apartment tenant to take down American flag.
(WTHR) You'll be seeing a lot of American flags displayed in the coming weeks as we approach the Fourth of July.
It's your right to fly the flag at your home.
There's a law that says so, but if you live at an apartment complex, the rules might be a different story.
Some tenants are being ordered to take down Old Glory at apartment complexes and it could cost them if they refuse.
"They can tear it down if they want, but I'll stand right behind that flag," Jordan Stein says.
A letter he received from his landlords threatens to fine him $75 if he doesn't take down Old Glory from his balcony.
A copy of his lease says nothing could be hung or draped from the balcony.
