'Tis the season to 'wake the neighbors' with 'magic thunder' as fireworks go on sale.

Chances are, you've seen them around as over one hundred firework stands have opened up around the valley. They are stocked with the biggest and brightest fireworks for the upcoming fourth of July celebrations.

However, citizens of Brownsville better think twice before popping them off within city limits.

Eddie Garcia, BPD, "City ordinance prohibits the use of fireworks inside the city of Brownsville. People can get cited, and the fireworks can be, and will be confiscated."

Lenny Perez, Fire Chief, "We've had a few calls over the years during the holidays basically when fireworks are allowed to be sold. We've had a few fires, either grass fires or building fires over the years."

BPD says that they do get a high influx of calls this time of year about fireworks within the city, and advise people to attend public displays rather than create your own.
