Brownsville Fire Chief Lenny Perez reported that a fire broke out around noon on Tuesday at the Esco Marine while workers were dismantling a ship.

Five fire trucks and one rescue unit were sent to the Port of Brownsville to fight the blaze at the port. Firefighters battled the flames and heat, but five firefighters suffered from heat exhaustion with four recovering at the scene and sending one to the hospital. The cause of the fire is believed to be some insulation within  the ship that caught on fire.
