FireComm Servicing the Cities of McAllen and Pharr

HIDALGO COUNTY — A new fire dispatch system is in the works and is saving time and money for the cities of McAllen and Pharr. The two cities joined together to service the communities and it's called FireComm and could save both cities a total of nearly $120,000 dollars yearly. Calls were sometimes delayed when going through the old police department dispatch system and so FireComm is expected to speed that process faster. Communication Supervisor Cynthia Puente said about the new system, "We get more into details and we give them sometimes pre-arrival instructions as far as "get out of the house, stay low to the ground," if it's a structure fire, "wait until the fire department gets there, don't turn on any lights."
