A Brownsville fire station now has a new, one of a kind crew member.
Firefighters at Station Number 6 say, their new crew member is definitely a man's best friend.
These Brownsville Firefighters made a very important rescue.
"We rescued this dog from a certain death."
Firefighter, Marco Longoria says, they were conducting drills, when they found a puppy in the bushes.
Their instincts told them, they needed to save this 2-month old, puppy's life.
"We nursed her back to health."
When firefighters first found her, she was dehydrated, skinny, couldn't even walk, now you can see her tail's wagging, and she's a healthy pup.
So with a smoke-sniffing nose, this pup is Station Number Six's first four-legged firefighter.
Longoria says, "She adds a little pep to the station."
He says, their new friend has it's own unifrom, and own employee file.
Soon, she'll even be going out on fire calls with them too.
Station Six Firefighters are very thankful to Brownsville Organization, "Pets Are Worth Saving", or P.A.W.S. for paying for the dog's shots and health care.
