Multiple fires have been fueled by the strong winds and dry weather conditions we've experienced these past couple of weeks across the Valley.
Fire officials are urging you to be very careful so that you do not spark fires. They're asking everyone to hold off on burning anything for at least one week. Hidalgo County Fire Marshall, Tony Pena says its important that you avoid having any bar-b-ques, since the winds can take a spark from the grill and turn it into a blaze.
He says its important to have a bucket of water available at all times to put out any spark. Pena adds that if you are a smoker, try and light up in areas that are not too windy and to be extra careful to put out the cigarette completely.
