In Brownsville Cameron County investigators say someone ransacked a home and then started several fires inside. Investigators say this was a case of arson and now they are looking for clues as to who sparked these fires.

Around 9 AM Friday the Brownsville Fire Department responded to a fire off Paseo Real in Brownsville. An off duty Brownsville fire fighter with the help of neighbors took matters into their own hands and with a yard hose they did their best to help put of the flames.

Fire investigators tell Newscenter 23 three different fires were set inside various rooms of the home. Investigators say the homes interior sustained major damage and that the Fuentes family had been away from their residence since 4:30 in the afternoon yesterday.

Before the fire erupted the Cameron County Fire Marshall tells Newscenter 23 an unknown burglar or burglars took off with a plasma TV and laptop. Investigators say a green pick up truck was near the home during the fire and suspect the person or persons in the truck may responsible for these fires.

Investigators say if anyone noticed a green pick up truck near the home this morning or any suspicious people walking around the area to call the Sheriff Department at 554-6700.
