Federal court reinstates Texas abortions restrictions
A federal appeals court on Thursday issued a ruling reinstating most of Texas' tough new abortion restrictions in a decision that means as many as 12 clinics won't be able to perform the procedure starting as soon as Friday.
The restrictions were slated to go into effect this past Tuesday, but a lower court blocked them.
Thursday's ruling means as many as twelve clinics won't be able to perform abortions starting as soon as Friday.
The new restrictions will remain in effect until January when the Appeals Court will hear oral arguments on the constitutionality of the law.
Texas Governor Rick Perry released a statement saying, "Today's decision affirms our right to protect both the unborn and the health of the women of Texas. We will continue doing everythng we can to protect a culture of life in our state."
