February Peak Season for Influenza
Right now is the peak season for influenza and in fact the State Department of Health says February is the busiest month for it.
Dr. Brian Smith with Texas State Health Department in Harlingen says that every 1 in 10 people going to a doctors office are going for flu symptoms. The flu is a respiratory condition associated with fever over 101 degrees. Dr. Smith says influenza is most common during this month because of the cooler temperatures and more people are huddled close together indoors and more hand to hand contact causing it to spread.
