DEA to head investigation of drug case.

An update now on the high speed chase that ended in Rancho Viejo on Wednesday after the driver was ejected after losing control of his vehicle.
Border Patrol authorities say a total of 1,600 pounds of marijuana was found inside the SUV. The chase began near San Benito after the SUV was followed by border agents on patrol near the Rio Grande river. The chase continued south bound on highway 77 with speeds reaching up to 100 mph and ended in Rancho Viejo when the driver lost control of the vehicle and rolled it over.
Authorities found more than 10 bundles of marijuana with an estimated street value of 1.2 million dollars. The driver did not sustain life threatening injuries and is recovering at a hospital.
