Auburn, CA — It was the perfect wedding, the only thing missing, the groom, but that didn't matter, because this wedding was about a father, dying with only months to live and his daughter, who wanted to make sure that father daughter wedding dance happened, Nick Monacelli has the story from Auburn, CA.
It says Rachel Rose Wolf is requesting the pleasure...
To say 25 year-old Rachel Wolf has a vivid imagination would be an understatement, but to say that desperate times call for desperate measures, that sums up this story best.
Hi, are you almost here?
The person "almost here" is Rachel's dad, Dr. James Wolf.
He's the one facing desperate times, he's losing his battle with pancreatic cancer and is most afraid of what he'll miss out on.
Because I'm saddened over the fact that I won't be there for the events of her life. That's been difficult on me.
So, even though she isn't engaged, Rachel has a special invitation, in less than 10 days, the community helped pull off a fake wedding.
I almost just want to run to him with open arms... screaming daddy!
A few miles down the road, friends, family, strangers, even patients of the once named "Doctor of the Year" were waiting.
It's really an honor to be in all of your lives, and I'm so thankful that you came.
And it's a dream... it's an absolute dream.
Hi honey you look gorgeous.
I've been waiting for this moment...I can't tell you how long I've been waiting for this moment.
I love you, I love you Rachel.
Let's go dance okay?
I picked this song out for you.
Will you spin me?
Thank you so much daddy for coming to this.
I wouldn't have missed it. I wouldn't have missed it.
He almost did miss it though.
James was in the hospital, getting a blood transfusion that morning, he isn't on chemotherapy so if he's lucky his doctors say he has another three months.
It was an amazing moment.
That said James is not afraid of dying, but he say he won't miss his girls, because he'll always be there, the girls, on the other hand,
There's missing. There's lots of missing...
I love you dad.
I love you too sweetheart.
I'll always be around, I want you to know that.
