MISSION - Family members of Joaquin Luna are saying part of the reason he took his life was because he was not an American citizen.

Luna was a senior at Juarez-Lincoln high school who had his whole life still ahead of him, but when Luna took his life, his family called the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department. Deputies report that Luna left a note for each of his brothers and sisters and one of Luna's brothers says he thinks he knows the motive behind this tragic ending, "I asked him was the reason because, he didn't have no papers and he wasn't going to be able to continue in schooling, and he said yes."

A lack of residency in the U.S. was a major issue for Luna who constantly voiced his concerns to his family. Luna is survived by  his mother, three brothers and two sisters.
