EDINBURG - A 5 year-old girl is recovering in a hospital after police say a family member sexually assaulted her on Saturday night.

Police arrested 23 year-old Alonzo Gonzalez for sexual assault of the child. The child's mother took her daughter to a nearby hospital for treatment and Gonzalez was charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and prohibited sexual conduct.

I never allowed anyone but my wife and myself to take care of our son. I didn't want anything bad or ugly to happen to him.
