Three generations bond on family volleyball team.
Sports teams are normally put together based on skill, but one Palmview, Texas team is connected by more than that.
Every member on the court and bench is a part of the same family.
It's a team make-up not often seen, but the De La Garza family knows it's special.
"I think so, people ask, who are you, and we say we are a family. And they see us playing together, and we aren't the best players, but we enjoy playing it," says Jaime De La Garza.
For many of them, volleyball isn't their first sport, but it's become the sport they all prefer to now play.
"We have been playing for probably around 15 years," says Juan Arevalo, Jaime's son-in-law.
Two generations play on the court, while the upcoming generation watch a the sideline yearning for their opportunity to play too.
"I have a 6-year-old that is already going to play in our league here at the Palmview boys and girls club. I have a 3-year-old that is already bumping, and of course I have a 1-year-old that is already coming," says Arevalo.
The sport is becoming a common denominator in their family.
"We feel that the unity, it brings us together even though there may be disagreements," Arevalo says.
