MCALLEN — Family and friends gathered at the McAllen International Airport to honor fallen Sgt. Michael Anthony Salinas.
The 28-year-old from Palmview was the only one of four brothers to serve in the armed forces. He was killed in a motorcycle accident nearly two weeks ago while at his base in Hawaii.
Sgt. Salinas' body was transferred to The Lord & I Funeral Home in Penitas where friends and family were able to pay their final respects.
Salinas is survived by his wife and 8-month-old baby.
A viewing for Sgt. Salinas will take place throughout the day and resume Friday from 11 AM to 9 PM.
