In cities across the nation people gathered in their own way to honor those who died defending our freedoms.

In Washington D.C. many chose to pay their respects at the Vietnam Memorial, where the names of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice are etched in stone. At Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minnesota, one veteran, returning from Iraq visited the resting places of his father and grandfather both veterans.

In Colorado, at the U.S. Air Force Academy, a Memorial Day wreath was unveiled and in addition a parade was held as part of the academy's graduation ceremonies. Cadets and generals joined together honoring those who gave their lives.
