Nohemi Gabriela Gonzalez is facing a felony charge of practicing medicine without a license.  But the Brownsville woman known as Mimi could see several dozen more charges if authorities had their way.

"We have handled practicing medicine without a license before, but we have never seen anything this egregious," said Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Treviño. "We have a young lady that came within inches of her life."

Mimi is accused of posing as a doctor to inject her clients with silicone and saying it's botox.  She has no medical training.  One of Mimi's clients came forward after she nearly died.

"According to doctors, this liquid that has been injected into people is very toxic and it could be fatal," Treviño said.

Mimi could face a felony charge for each injection she made.  The sheriff says she has at least 30 clients.  And some procedures require as many as 30 injections to finish.

There is one confirmed death; the sheriff is working with the FBI and FDA to tie to Mimi.

"We have reason to believe the death was a direct result of Ms. Gonzalez' injections," Treviño said.  "If any deaths do result from the injections, then certainly we have a homicide investigation."

Sheriff Treviño is asking for Mimi's other clients to step forward to not only help out the investigation, but to get medical help to mitigate the effects of the injections.

"I understand that a lot of these victims are illegal immigrants," Treviño said. "Neither the FBI nor us really care about your immigration status.  If you're here illegally, well that's going to be somebody else's problem."

Investigators say they are tracking as many as five other fake doctors in the area.
