A Harlingen plant explosion kept several employees out of work on Thursday.

Sixteen employees at Mexican Snacks Incorporated were near one of the potato chip boilers when it exploded.

No one was injured, but the explosion did destroy a wall and cement blocks inside the building. City inspectors had ordered that no employees return to work until the area is safe to work in.

Cameron County Emergency Management Coordinator, Humberto Barrera commented on the situation, "We're not just talking about one room that got damaged, we're talking about two rooms that got damaged. We're talking about massive damage, so it's gonna take some time, but fortunately it was contained to just those two rooms and no where else near the plant or near the food or near the products. It's gonna fix it's problems and continue business."

Officials are still unsure as to what caused the explosion in the first place or when employees will be able to return to work.
