How do you talk to your kids about the Colorado theater massacre?

In the aftermath of the movie theater massacre in colorado kids and teens are bound to have questions about how something so awful happened at a place that they're supposed to go for entertainment.

Cinda McDonald is a child life expert with Baylor University.

She says it's important to be honest and direct with kids while sharing age appropriate information.

"I don't believe in sugar-coating it, because kids are going to overhear things and try to fill in their own blanks for the information they are looking for," she says.

When they're ready to go back to the theater, she says consider tagging along.

"Some teens may not be that happy with their parents wanting to attend, but I think this is where you have to pull out the parent card and say, 'I'm going to be there for this one'," she advises
