Exercise While Helping a Local Charity

Good cause and great shape. That’s the motto for Matthew Lucas. The personal trainer from Fit Body Boot Camp in Harlingen has a goal to raise $3,000 for Monica and Maggie’s House in 30 days.

"I come from a broken and abusive home and knowing what I went through and understanding what those kids are going through, it made me really want to do something that no one was able to do for me."

Lucas will donate $100 for each person who participates in his 3-in-1 Rapid Fat Loss Program. Jeanette Vasquez is just one client he's training. Her goal is to be in shape by the holidays.

"I’ve lost the inches and the weight. I’ve gone from a size 14 to a 7."

This mother of three knows about the difficulties of finding time in her schedule to exercise but she tells us she makes sure she has at least one hour to work out.

"It gets difficult at times but you have to make exercising a part of your routine, because if you don't it's hard to do anything, and I wanted to have the energy, be there for my kids or my grandkids. When my kids have kids. I want to be there."

"We take people who are 30-50 pounds overweight and we put them through boot camp, a little routine, something every day that really gets them to the point where they can start losing the fat looking good and feeling good about themselves."

Lucas says his program includes the five key elements of weight loss: Nutrition, resistance training, interval training, a support network and rest.

"It’s absolutely incredible how just a little bit everyday can make a huge difference."

If you follow those guidelines, he says will get you to the size you want to be and while you're working towards your goal, you'll also help those children who have been abused at home.
