The Equal Voice Network says it knocked on more than 8,000 doors and made hundreds of phone calls to boost voter turnout. The group says it targeted the infrequent voter, but admits that isn't easy as LUPE representative Martha Sanchez stated, "Is that the people are very disillusioned with the system. With everything that is going on with the politics, they are very disillusioned, so our biggest obstacle is to convince the people that their voice is a vote and that their vote is a voice and that we need all those voices to make changes in the Valley."

The Equal Voice Network says it's work isn't done and they plan to hold several forums so that residents can learn each candidates position on the issues in advance of the July runoff election.
