Environment Texas to rally support for water conservation
BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Some Brownsville residents will be gathering at a local store asking the community to call Senator Lucio, Jr's office on water conservation efforts.
Environment Texas volunteers will be standing outside of the H.E.B. store, in downtown Brownsville, to rally support in calling the Senator's office on the state's drought and water conservation.
The organization is asking the state to take preventative measures such as drought tolerant landscapingand renewable energy. The Texas legislature is set to allocate $2 billion to new water projects across the state and Environment Texas is asking the Texas Water Development Board to spend at least half of that money for water conservation and reuse.
The gathering will be on Friday, Monday 29 at 1 p.m. in front of the H.E.B. located at 924 E. Elizabeth Street.
