A political ditty written and performed by one Valley star is causing somewhat of a controversy.
Musician, Dulce Maria Gonzalez's new song about Hillary Clinton, has been receiving sweet reviews by some, but with others, it's hit a sour note. Strong lyrics like, "if a woman can carry the weight of a child, she can carry the weight of a nation." What she wants is everyone to listen not only with their ears, but minds and hearts.
21 year-old, Dulce Maria Gonzalez has been writing songs and performing since, she was a little girl. "We Need A Woman" written all for, Gonzalez's favorite Presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton. After performing her poltitcal tune at Clinton's rally, Dulce Maria says, some loved it, but with others it hit the wrong chord.
She says shortly after her song's big debut, her MySpace page was bombarded with mixed reviews. From normally 30 hits a day to 500 hits with all of them stating their opinion on the song, some negative and some positive. Dulce Maria says, she stomps on those negative remarks, and wants the song's true message to be understood.
Come election day, she says, she'll stand by her woman, Hillary Clinton. She says Congressman Soloman Ortiz gave Hillary a copy of the song, but hasn't heard anything back yet, but does tell us, she's heard that Chelsea Clinton is quite the fan.
