Endangered Addax Born at Gladys Porter Zoo
The Gladys' Porter Zoo welcomed its newest member to the family, a critically endangered Addax Antelope.
The mother of the new baby Addax was actually given to the zoo by U.S. Fish and Wildlife after there was a smuggling attempt on the Addax. The baby Addax weighs about 10 pounds and the female calf was delivered by zoo keepers and staff. The zoo says that two other female Addaxes are pregnant and they look forward to welcoming new calves in the future.
