Elementary Students Learn the Importance of Saying No to Drugs
BROWNSVILLE - Students from B.I.S.D. were paid a little visit by local police not because they were in trouble, but they are learning an important lesson.
Students at Resaca Elementary filled the cafeteria where police officers spoke to them about the danger of drugs as part of Red Ribbon Week. A Power Point presentation showed the students information about harmful substances and what they should do if they ever come across them. Interim Principal Lucinda Hernandez said, "It;s important that they understand this at a young age, especially for those fifth graders transitioning to middle school. I think it's very important for them to know all about this and today seeing the example of the K-9 finding the drugs was wonderful for the students because they understood the concept of what the police officers are here for."
