Elderly driver flees from police after nearly colliding with a patrol unit

An elderly man was arrested after he nearly collided with a police unit and then fleeing from the pursuing officer.

On Tuesday, June 4, in the early evening hours, a maroon Chevy truck, driven by Samuel Rodriguez Pena, 60, failed to come to a complete stop at an intersection and nearly collided with a police unit.

Pena drove off and the officer followed him in an attempt to make a traffic stop. Pena continued driving and then made an abrupt turn at the intersection of Filmore Avenue and 6th Street, then continued onto Commerce and finally coming to a stop on the 1500 block of South 77 Sunshine Strip.

Pena was arrested and charged with fleeing a police officer, no liability insurance, failing to stop at a designated point and expired license plates, his bond was set at $2,220 dollars.
